Netta Brielle has a story that everyone, man or woman, can relate to on some level. Over an production that sounds a happier than the subject matter, she sings about a girl that got played by a man that sought out to make her love him only to use her. Brielle’s vocals strain with emotion (in a good way) but they never become annoying or seem like she’s trying outside of her natural range. Her performance is a good match for the beatwork, which gives her room to work by being good but not over the top making her the highlight. The lyrics are strong as well with a story full of concrete images and moments is told, selling the song all the more.
