Continuing what has been a beautiful surprise of new(ish) artists laying down amazing vocals with strong lyrics and great production, Zak Abel gives us his four-track EP Joker Presents Zak Abel. Sounding a little bit like a more mature Mayer Hawthorne, Abel gives emotional vocals over four Joker-produced beats. Speaking about learning from love and loss, the singer makes dysfunction sound pretty good. The lyrics are accessible but very poetic, giving a bluesy vibe to every track (aided by the vocals). A great project that has us hungry for more from the singer.
