After his last album, Kaleidoscope Dream, started to really get some attention, Miguel promised fans that he would not leave them hanging and release three more iterations of his Art Dealer Chic mixtape series in the summer of 2013. When summer, fall, winter, and most of 2014 went by without much of a musical peep from the singer (with the exception of the odd tribute or soundtrack single), we shelved our hopes.
Well, out hopes are now out on full display and fulfilled as Miguel has released a three-track freEP that, while still maintaining the fundamentals of the Miguel sound, have singer showing growth. The three songs have different flavors in production but are a good fit for the tracks they represent. The lyrics switch between fun and sexy to deep and thought-provoking as he gives a little bit of everything for listeners. His vocals are melodious in places and almost like talk in others, but the tone fits each track well. This was well worth the wait, even if the experience is brief.
Could this mean that there is a new Miguel LP on the way? Only time (hopefully not as much) will tell.
