The 20th anniversary of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For (Is You) is this year and Trey Songz has decided to take a stab at it.  While his version is not as long as Carey’s, he doesn’t do a bad job of covering the track.  He manages to keep the doo-wop spirit of the track’s production and the harmonies that make the song so bright and cheery.  The biggest issue might be that the lyrics sound a little awkward coming from him, but that seems to be an issue with any singer that tries to cover a Mariah Carey track (see our analysis of It’s A Wrap in our Elusive Chanteuse review).  All in all, not a bad rendition, but not a replacement for the original.
