Steph Sexton is ready for the turn up. In her new single, Toxic Party, she sings about a party that is meant to be nothing but smoking, drinking and sex (if you listen to the verse by RJ).
This is an interesting track because, at times, it comes off a little discordant. Sexton’s vocals are strong and diverse, but they don’t initially match the dark production. That changes when the beatwork’s melody comes in about 16 bars in, but the mismatch is shows up whenever it drops out again. The matchup is perfect for rapper RJ however, who rides the beat expertly.
This is the first single from Sexton’s EP, For Now, which comes out November 30.
