This track may have come out seven months ago, but it’s never too late to showcase a good song. While Nikki Yanofsky considers herself to be a jazz singer, she has a far more contemporary sound than singers like Melody Gardot, Maysa, or Amy Winehouse. A good example of this is Necessary Evil, which has its jazz elements and has Yanofsky scatting like a pro, the production is far more pop in action with it’s warped church bells in the background and solid energy. Of course, what you get is a best of both worlds kind of track that has a modern sound with strong, old-school vocals.
Yanofsky’s album, Little Secret, is available wherever music is sold.
