I takes a lot of guts to remake a song that was originally recorded by a group of five guys by yourself, but Richard King has done it masterfully.  Trying to capitalize off the buzz he’s getting from his new single Plus One, he has released this well crafted cover of the Hi-Five classic.  The production deserves a nod in itself; it’s new but has enough elements of the original in it so that it feels familiar, too.  King’s vocals show a distinctly broader range than listeners might have thought he had when listening to his single.  He absolutely makes the song his own while paying homage to the original artists.  A great surprise from an artist that is quickly proving himself to have the talent to make it.
