Jansport J, who is better know for working with rappers like Big Pooh and Snoop Dogg, has teamed up with singer Mélat to bring us an nine-track EP full of boom-bap and sweet vocals.  Mélat has been releasing mixtapes for a while, but the Ethiopian singer recently garnered some major attention for her track Fanclub (which is featured on this project) for finding a perfect blend of her more subtle vocals with a strong but laidback production.  While initially that track was meant to be a bit of a one-off, she decided to refocus the entire EP in that direction and it has paid off.  Here’s hoping this leads to even more attention for the soulful talent in the near future.
