D.C.-based singer Daryn Alexus has been releasing music for the past two years, but this is likely some of the best that she has come with.  Writing the entire album by herself (with the exception of a few guest rap verses), the very cohesive project revolves around the naiveté that comes with falling in love for the first time or at a very young age.  From the expectations that people get from listening to love songs to the letdown when it all falls apart, she covers a lot of ground.  The production, handled exclusively by Dee Lilly, is strong and varies from song to song and enhances the listening experience by aiding the already strong vocals with a vibrant undercurrent.  Why this artist isn’t being thrown deals left and right is anybody’s guess, but I doubt that will be a problem for her much longer.
