I would like to thank Samantha Alexis for letting us know that a performance version of this song exists.

One of the issues that comes from being firmly multifandom in my Kpop love is that it becomes very easy to miss special drops that fall outside of the normal promotion schedule.  It was even easier back in the days when the online community was still somewhat small and there was no social media for announcements.  I have lived quite happily with the drama version of this video and, usually, finding a gem like this means that I can bask in a favorite anew and enjoys it all over again…

…but this is literally my favorite TVXQ track and the fact that this went unknown to me for seven years has me heated!

One listen to this track and you realize that it was birthed during the apex of the SM slow jam era as they embraced the beauty of nineties R&B with all the tropes and New Jack goodness that came with it.  The obvious Teddy Riley/BlackStreet elements that permeate this song make it a great listen for fans of the era…whether into Kpop or not.

Despite the fact that the meaning behind the track is somewhat sad, it does not hurt the babymaker feels that you get from this.  In fact, it falls right in line with a lot of songs that profess love while still saying their letting the woman in question go to make them happy.  The fact that the song is a little on the self-deprecating side and this is speaking of the end of a relationship actually makes some of those anguished runs that Changmin comes at you with make even more sense in context and makes the performance that much more enjoyable.

The vocals are some of the best that TVXQ have come with in their longs careers.  This is from the first album they released after the exit of JYJ from SM and they had a lot to prove in terms of how they could manage to stay a successful group with the majority of their members gone and going unreplaced.  This song went a long way to sure up their bonafides as it showed that they still had the ability to wow vocally.  We see the beginning of what we have come to love about a grown-up Changmin and his amazing vocal control.  Throw that on top of U-Know bringing in his more seductive tenor for his lines and adlibs and the the balance on this track is one that just throws you for an emotional loop.  This would be the start of what we come love about the duo eras and set the tone for a lot of their comeback from then on.

This performance video, though, is everything that this track deserves.  Sensual, subtle movements mixed with some great hard hits; solid close-ups on their faces; them looking delectable in their suits; and at several solid fangasm moments…did I mention I’m heated about missing this when it came out?

If you’ve never heard this song before, you’re in for a treat.  If you have and have also seen this version of the video, you already know what to expect and can feel free to enjoy and hit repeat over and over.  This is a jam and deserves to be appreciated on both a visual and auditory level.

Sidenote #1: Changmin’s escalating run at 2:13 and U-Know’s subtle runs at 4:05 MAKE this song.

Sidenote #2: U-Know can come to The States in nine months and collect his child.  That man is dangerous.

Lyrics:
If you feel it’s a burden
That all my senses are focused only on you
I will leave now
If I made you suffer
Because I couldn’t control my feelings
I will go now

I was afraid that like “hooc”
You might fly away from my side
Not a day could I rest saying “hugh”
I didn’t know then that I was hurting you
With my foolish obsession

Just know this before you go
That I was the only man who loved you only
So stupid was I
An idiot a scumbag who couldn’t even protect you
If you stay beside me ’till the end
You’ll be more heartbroken, you might fall
Made a very good choice
A person who will set you free
Will come to you
Will come to you

I won’t make any more of small excuses
So make that kind of look on your face no more (so sad)
With my mouth shut I only wanted to wish your happiness
It wasn’t that, no no no no

In the cold wind with “hoo”
I warmed up your cold hands
“Pooc” (deep) in my arms
After a year we had our first kiss
I gave myself to you, I always do

Just know this before you go
That I was the only man who loved you only
So stupid was I
An idiot a scumbag who couldn’t even protect you
If you stay beside me ’till the end
You’ll be more heartbroken, you might fall
Made a very good choice
A person who will set you free
Will come to you
Will come to you

Thank you for giving me happy memories
You go on and don’t remember, forget anything
Don’t look at me with worried eyes, I’m okay

Someday all my heart’s wounds will be cured
Someday I will meet a nice person
Forget, yeah, forget everything and hurry up and go
Before I change my mind and hold onto you

Out of habit, I might call you without knowing
Hello hello hello hello
Missing you like crazy, if I’m at your door, be cold

Just know this before you go
That I was the only man who loved you only
So stupid was I
An idiot a scumbag who couldn’t even protect you
If you stay beside me ’till the end
You’ll be more heartbroken, you might fall
Made a very good choice
A person who will set you free
Will come to you
Will come to you
