While we have been eagerly awaiting Gallant to start prepping us for his next album release (Ology is still on repeat), the singer has been busy capitalizing on the love for the current project and learning about how Black music, especially R&B, has spread around the world.

Teaming up with Red Bull Music, the singer has produced a short documentary about the rise of soul music in Korea and how that path has has similar arc to that of soul music in the United States.  It is interesting to hear how music that has its history steeped in discrimination and the fight for equality landed on ears halfway around the world who were looking for the same thing.

We wish this was longer and hope that a full documentary is on its way.

Side Note: Okay, Gallant…we have a similar K-music journey and I love your work; we need to be friends.
