Mila J, Eric Bellinger, Anderson .Paak, Kevin McCall, and now…Syd The Kid.

When I found out that Syd (from The Internet) and DΞΔN would be collaborating on a song, I was thoroughly intrigued.  They are definitely two artists who like to experiment with their sound as well as strong writers.  Whatever they made had a lot of potential to be incredibly good…or go horribly wrong.

I am so glad this didn’t go horribly wrong.

The bulk of the song has a bit of a throwback feel; like something out of the cabana jazz era but with a more skittering beat to keep things modern.  Syd puts a little more sweetness and light into her vocals than she did on her most recent releases, but still maintains that hint of smoky flavor that makes her sound so unique.  DΞΔN puts his own unique tenor vocals to work in that way that is very melodic but still, sometimes, comes across as rap.  The two have a nice interplay, but this never fully comes off as duet because the two very rarely blend.  That part is actually a shame because they would have combined into some nice harmonies.  The lyrics are that mix of American and Korean aesthetics; poetic language that transitions to more blunt expressions of love.  The overall effect is actually a pretty nice enticement to either a one night stand or forever.  You get the feeling that ambiguity is what they were going for.

Towards the end of the track, we get that DΞΔN moment where he gives a outro to the song, similar to what he did with Bonnie & Clyde.  This section usually serves to transition him into the next song and that has us very excited that we are going to get more than a couple of tracks when his new single(?) is released in a day or two.

Sidenote: You can what me if I let you, DΞΔN?

The song’s in English so no need for translation but, if you’re interested, the lyrics (provided by KpopScene) are below the player.

Lyrics:
You give me something I need in my life
Second to nothing you come baby
Told you I loved you you told me you might
Tell me why you frontin’ babe

Say you want to take it slow
When you’re ready let me know
I know somewhere we can go to unwind
Leave your troubles in the past
And give love another chance
You got questions I got answers tonight

I got intentions baby
But I’m gettin’ restless babe
I need your blessing baby
I’ll love you if you let me baby

I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know

Got a lot of emotion it’s a rollercoaster but I like it
Should I wait in line should
I close my eyes or should I ride it out
Don’t know where we’re goin’
Let’s live in the moment
Something about you I’m so in to

Say you want to take it slow
When you’re ready let me know
I got somewhere we can go to unwind
I been patient I been true
I been playing by the rules
Tell your friends I got you alright yea

I got intentions baby
But I’m gettin’ restless babe
I need your blessin’ baby
I’ll fuck you if you let me baby

I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know

(Love – love – love)
You wonder where is the love where is the love
You’ve been looking for feelings of love
Yeah I’m out of control
Whether it’s right or wrong no
If its mean to be we will know

I got intentions baby
But I’m gettin’ restless babe
I need your blessin’ baby
I’ll love you if you let me baby

I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know
I know I know I know I know I know

Turn that shit off!

It’s all about the things you do
That makes me wanna turn to you
It’s all about the dreams you grew
That gives my life another view
It’s all about the things you do
That makes me wanna turn to you
It’s all about the dreams you grew
That gives my life another view

Where is the love is the love is the love
